Provincial Games

ACTIFEST & WINTERFEST

The Ontario Senior Games Actifest and 
Winterfest are a program of the sportalliance
in partnership with the Ontario Senior Games
Association. The Ontario Senior Games Actifest
and Winterfest events play an important role in
sport development and participation for older
adults in Ontario. It is an integral component of
the Strategy for Amateur Sport in Ontario.

The Ontario Senior Games Association
is responsible for:

  • The overall administration of the senior games program is the Province
  • The selection of sanctioned events for both Actifest and Winterfest
  • The selection of the host Municipality and the Bid Process
  • The primary liaison with the Games Organizing Committee
  • The development of Technical and Policy Manuals for the Games
  • Assisting the organization of the Actifest and Winterfest Provincial competitions

The Sport Alliance of Ontario is responsible for:

  • The provision of financial assistance to the Host Municipality
  • The negotiation of the contractual agreement with the Host Municipality
  • A liaison with the Games Organizing Committee
  • The hosting of a bidders meeting

The Ontario Senior Games Association Halton District #21 has not yet applied for an Actifest or a Winterfest. Our Region and our local municipalities have expressed an interest in hosting either one of these events. Plans by the local committee are underway to make this dream a reality.

Canada Senior Games 2008

The 2008 Canada Senior Games will be held in the City of Dieppe from August 26 to 31st, 2008. See official Web site at www.dieppe.ca/senior_games.cfm.
